time and space

This weekend, Lucy and I went to Birdsboro to do some outdoor climbing.
The ‘why’ of our being there is incidental, except for the fact that there’s a not-insignificant hike from the parking lot to the climb-site.
And in that hike, I’ve come to experience empirical proof of Relativity.

It takes about ten minutes to do the 1/2 mile in-hike.
On the way back out?  It took twenty minutes to get to the car, and I’m pretty sure the distance was about five miles.
Not sure what accounts for the non-linear time:space multiples; my best guess is that space is simply more elastic than time.
